The popularity of Shaun White isn’t just exclusive to snowboarding. He is one of the very few athletes who has risen beyond the sport they have played. While the chapter of snowboarding is finally over for him, new opportunities are knocking at his door every single day. The most prominent of them came in the form of an invitation to be a presenter at the Oscars.

Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 was the last event of Shaun White’s journey in the sport he has dominated for over 20 years. However, his last run wasn’t what he would have expected, but the legend has given enough moments to snowboarding to be cherished for a lifetime.

Who is Shaun White’s date for the Oscars?

Well, the answer to that question isn’t so obvious since Nina Dobrev is filming a project in Europe. Replacing Nina as Shaun’s date for the Oscars will be his mother, who is really excited about the event. Sharing his mom’s reaction to the news, Shaun said, “She’s so excited. I tried to, like, screen record her reaction, but the audio didn’t work. The things she said were incredible.”

The Olympic champion was also not sure about whether he should accept the invitation, but then Nina pitched in and saved the day. Shaun further added“I was supposed to go to Europe and meet up with Nina. And I was like, Hey, I got asked to do this thing, like, what do you think?’ And she was just, like, ‘You have to [go].’ … She’s like, ‘You have to do it.”

Sharing the stage at Oscars with Shaun White will be his friend and mentor Tony Hawk and Eleven-time surfing world champion Kelly Slater. What a moment it will be to watch this trio from different extreme sports coming together in an award show. Perhaps it’ll be somewhat like watching Avengers.

While the world will be cheering for all the nominees and the award winners, sports fans would be eager to see their real-life sports heroes on the stage.
