An athlete’s mentor who devotes himself to making them the best of all time is always a legend. Similarly, Shaun White has not always been a champion of snowboarding. His mentor, Tony Hawk, has played an important role in his development from a six-year-old kid on a skateboard to a three-time gold medalist on the snowboard. Shaun has now shared the only path to returning to the game, including Hawk.

Tony is a perfect example of what a coach should be. Due to his incredible tricks in the air, while skateboarding, he was also known as Birdman. White was nine years old, when the Birdman spotted him. Since then, he has been guided by the legendary Hawk.

The key to Shaun’s return to snowboarding is his mentor, Tony. “I don’t know if I think the only thing that will bring me out of retirement would be Tony Hawk coming out of retirement, and then we could batter once and for all one the world ramp.”

He also made a Star Wars reference, saying, “It would be like, the student vs. the teacher, Darth Maul vs. whatever character is not as cool as Darth Maul if you know Star Wars. It’s pretty much it,” Shaun stated in the video. Watching both legends battle in the Star Wars way will be an exciting experience.

The bond between the two legends

There is no doubt that Tony has played a significant role in shaping the three-time gold medalist’s career. In a conversation with Dan Patrick, the snowboarder described Hawk as his hero. He explained how Tony had fascinated every child he had ever met since he was a child. Tony invited Shaun after he bid goodbye to snowboarding. He requested the snowboarder to return to the ramp with his skates.
