Once Confessed to Attempt Suicide, Sha’Carri Richardson Clears Out Negative Thoughts Before 2024 Season

The American sprinting sensation, Sha’carri Richardson, is a force to be reckoned with. 2023 remained a bright spot in her career. She made a dazzling turnaround from being suicidal to rising at the top. She has come back stronger with her terrific performances in the World Championship and Diamond League. Her prowess is unmatchable because of the strength and inspirational factor she carries in herself.

Richardson had set a goal for herself last year. Recently, her updates about that have made all of her followers emotional. The sprinting sensation has shared a post on her social media, beautifully reflecting on her one-year journey. Not only did she just accomplish what she had in mind, but she has words of wisdom to impart to others as well.

Sha’carri Richardson opens up about new accomplishment

Sha’carri Richardson has turned the page for herself from 2022’s dark phase on her recent Instagram stories. On December 2022, she updated a post that said, “One year from now, I want to be able to look back at my say, Girl, you believed in yourself, and it worked”. Reminiscing this post, she shared her thoughts on how far she has come this year.

She expressed that last December she promised herself not to live in survival mode anymore. She added, “I will believe, heal, love, and take control (OF WHAT I CAN) and actually live my life”. Sha’carri Richardson also stated that a December later, she now has a greater understanding of her purpose, her heart, and her direction in life. Just after this update, she also shared an update that had a wall with the graphics of time and birds. The caption to this carried, “Time will fly”.

She is now entering 2024 with a clear mind and a heart full of gratitude. However, it is not an easy job to jump back from being suicidal to the US Woman Athlete of the Year, but Richardson did it with grace.

The darkest phase of the American sprinter

After losing her mother in 2021, Sha’carri Richardson went through a challenging phase of her life. Richardson, who was seen as one of the best competitors for the Tokyo Olympics, was suspended from the same after testing positive for THC that very year. This just added more issues for her when she was already in pain. Richardson accepted that losing her mother trapped her.

She added, “She was supposed to be my world, and suddenly she was gone.” The situation was so bad for the athlete that she questioned herself about being alive. She expressed, “It took me to a very dark place.. and I tried to commit suicide”. She tried the same once she was in high school due to loneliness. However, her aunt Shayaria Richardson came as a ray of light in her life, and by becoming her family, she gave the world an undefeatable Sha’Carri Richardson.
