Did they do it for their beloved coach? Just days back, Nebraska Huskers women’s volleyball team coach John Cook was furious at his team because it was not delivering clean serves. A frustrated Cook had said, “They’re stealing right now so they’re gonna serve it in or they’re going to jail.” Interestingly, Cook’s comments came at a time, when the Huskers are staging one of their best performance by being on a 13-match winning streak.

However, if we look at the stats, going along Cook’s comments, Nebraska Huskers have committed 89 service errors throughout this season, averaging almost seven mistakes per match. So the ire was not completely unjustified. This tough stance by the coach seems to have made the Nebraska Huskers more determined as they presented Cook with another triumph.

On October 6, The Nebraska Huskers women’s volleyball team registered a win against the Michigan State Spartans. The Huskers, with this win, increased their winning streak to 14 straight matches. Huskers took that match 3-1 with a scoreboard of 25-23, 16-25, 25-15, 25-11. After the match, Big Ten Volleyball posted a video of the winning moment of the match. The caption reads, “Sealing the win for @HuskerVB”

The match started out pretty hardcore. While Nebraska did take the win in the set (25-23), the matchup was pretty much balanced. Spartan bounced back well in the second set, claiming it  16-25. From here, the Huskers started showing their real class. They snatched away the 3 set 25-15. Finally, thrashing the Spartans, they put up a scoreline of 25-11 to seal off the match. Though the serves still need practice, Huskers attack and defense in this match were noteworthy.
