In the world of top-tier soccer, there hasn’t been any shortage of thunderous trios that have dominated the game for years. And yet, the three-pronged attacking formation of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, during Barcelona’s 2014-2017 run, arguably remains the greatest front three in world soccer. With 537 goal involvements between them, the “MSN” is still considered one of the most successful sports trios of all time, even eight years after they disbanded. But not everyone would like to see the gang back together again.

Transfer News Live took to X on October 11 to drop a bomb on the soccer fans worldwide. “Inter Miami are exploring the chance to bring Neymar to the club,” the post caption, straight off the bat. Works better than a coffee shot to get your attention, doesn’t it? “The move would recreate Barcelona’s most iconic forward line by reuniting Neymar with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez,” added the social media update, reigniting fond memories of the incredible 2014-15 season, when Messi, Suraez, Neymar hauled 122 goals and 55 assists to help Barcelona win the elusive treble (La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey).

Neymar, following a rather forgettable stint with Al Hilal, where he suffered a serious injury just days after signing a deal worth $104.4 million, moved back to his native country to play for Santos in January this year. And still, despite being continents apart from his old teammate, the Brazilian superstar recently confessed to tennis legend Novak Djokovic that he still considers Leo Messi the best player in the world. The confession made the folks over at Inter Miami think: Could the iconic trio be reunited?

Moreover, Neymar has two months left of his contract with Santos, after which he might not mind moving to the US, especially with the country playing host to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With two-thirds of the MSN line-up already playing for the Herons, the move to Miami could be on the table for the former PSG star. But the fans aren’t feeling it.

Why? Well, for starters, Neymar is 33 years old, and both Suarez and Messi are 38. Not exactly the age group you’d want your front three to be in. And yet, with the imminent retirement of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, the thought of having Neymar, Messi, and Suarez play alongside each other once again probably can’t be shaken off by the Miami top brass. With both Messi and Suarez not planning to leave the MLS or Miami anytime soon, the move could help to make soccer gain an even larger footprint in the country.

And yet, despite the possibilities of what the move could do to get Neymar’s career back on track, the Miami and Major League Soccer fans seem to think that Messi and Suarez should just keep doing what they’ve been doing instead of counting their eggs about the possible reunion with their South American comrade.

MLS fans wouldn’t rather see Lionel Messi getting back with his buddy

With Messi set to hang up his international boots after the 2026 World Cup, this could be a great chance for Neymar to witness one of his best buddies in his natural habitat for one last time. We agree, it would be emotional for everyone. But Miami fans believe that Neymar should just stay in the stands (he wasn’t called up for national duties for the Word Cup) instead of trying to help Messi help overcome his sadness as a Herons’ teammate. “Messi with a barely moving Suárez and a barely motivated Neymar – doesn’t sound like a recipe for success,” one fan explained why Inter shouldn’t be moving ahead with the deal.

So they can get a player that’s constantly injured? No thanks,” another fan just couldn’t forget how Neymar’s career has been defined by injury after injury, whether he played in Spain, France, or Saudi Arabia. Another fan, suggesting that Neymar should just call it quits after his tenure with his boyhood club, wrote, “Neymar should just think of retiring, coz these injuries.

Messi is still chasing his 2025 MLS Golden Boot, with a lot of help from the Argentine national team. But if Neymar does come to the Miami locker room next January, fans feel like the 2022 World Cup winner’s chances of winning such individual trophies will plummet. “Another player that won’t help Messi,” grunted the fan. “Having 3 players that don’t track back is suicide,” one fan was baffled as to why Miami would even consider bringing in the Brazilian.

What about you? Would you like to see the MSN back together again, or do you think all three of them are past the point in time where such a reunion would have actually mattered? Share your thoughts with us!
