And being in soccer was destined. He was born into it. A family in which his father, Alberto, was a former professional player and is now a coach. And followed in his footsteps, Luna’s three siblings. Well, Diego Luna may also be a coach one day. But right now, he is on a journey to become an important player for his nation.

Keeping his love life away from the tabloids, but Luna has not hesitated to show what a proud father is. It was in September 2023 that Diego Luna became a father. They named their son Manolo, who, let’s just say, Diego Luna just can’t stay away from. Often you will see Luna holding his Baby Moon (you get it? Baby Moon, Moon means Luna, basically he is baby Luna) and spending so much time bonding. You just know how important familial bonds are to Diego Luna.

With the amazing life Luna has built thanks to his talent and years of hard work, the still young and upcoming midfielder makes sure his son gets to experience every joy in life. And takes Luna to the zoo, the amusement park, or anywhere that makes Manolo happy.

As for his own journey that Diego Luna is on now, he has a purpose bigger than just himself. In the Behind the Crest video, the USMNT midfielder shared the big responsibility he has now. “The moments I get to spend with my son are the biggest and the happiest moments I have in my whole life,” the young father said. “Everything that I do now, the main thing that goes through my mind is him. Every decision I make.”

And you know the carefree guy who played soccer just to enjoy himself. Somehow, he evolved into Manolo’s father. “So now when it comes to soccer, it adds another level of motivation that it’s not just playing for fun or for myself or because I love the game … It’s because it’s now my career and I have to provide for my family and provide for my son.”

Such a beautiful character arc it is for the American star. “To see him grow and create a bond that I’m having with my son and now to kind of grow together in a sense, that I’m still very young and he’s gonna be there to watch all my success… that’s the coolest part.”

We know what present Diego Luna would want to give to Manolo. Next year, Pochettino’s new champion will step up with the objective to not just help the USMNT to a glorious outing in the World Cup but also show Manolo how amazing his father really is.
