Former India opener and national selector Vikram Rathour has replaced Sanjay Bangar as India Batting Coach up to the 2021 World T20, according to the recommendations of the selection committee led by MSK Prasad. However, Bharat Arun and R. Sridhar will continue their respective positions as the bowling and fielding coach respectively. Along with them, Nitin Patel and Girish Dongre have been named the physiotherapist and administrative manager respectively.

The similar way of selecting the Head Coach was used by the selection committee to chose the support staff as well. Vikram Rathour finished ahead of Sanjay Bangar and Mark Ramprakash, the former England batsman and assistant coach.

In the bowling department, Bharat Arun beat former Mumbai Indians bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and former India bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad in the race. On the other hand, R Sridhar was ahead of the former Railways coach Abhay Sharma and Hyderabad fielding coach T Dilip in the fielding department. Head Coach Ravi Shastri backed him for India’s improved fielding performances for the last couple of years, including the recently concluded ICC World Cup.

However, there were other five candidates also in the fray for the post of strength and conditioning coach. The shortlisted candidates are Luke Woodhouse, Grant Ludden, Rajnikanth Sivagnanam, Nick Webb and Anand Date. They will be a part of “a second round of interviews to assess their practical skills,” a BCCI media release read.
