The hazard amid the thrill of cycling

The loss of such a young, talented cycling prodigy has sent shockwaves through the community. According to the senior officials, Venzo was a promising talent with several years of cycling left in him and it was a great loss for the entire sport.

His death comes just a month after the unfortunate demise of professional Swiss cyclist Gino Mader during the Tour de Suisse, who also crashed while descending, just a few weeks prior to the commencement of the Tour de France. With such fatal accidents, stakeholders certainly need to address things quickly before the frequency of such incidents increase. There is no simple way to increase safety in a sport that is notable for allowing competitors to race as quickly as they can downhill on closed public roads without any protection but a helmet.
