Adding to their fascinating tally of records, a man arrived on his cycle in Nigeria with the claim that he set a world record. Let’s find out what exactly transpired and if his claims were true.

Man’s quest for the record is cut short

The unidentified man, embarked on his difficult journey several weeks ago, with the intention to cycle from Germany to Nigeria on a bicycle. Moreover, the man aimed to secure the Guinness World record for the longest cycle ride completed by an individual. It was only a few months ago when renowned Nigerian chef, Hilda Bachi attempted to set the world record for the longest cooking marathon. Lata Tondon from India was the current record holder with a time of 87 hours, 45 minutes.

Hilda broke the record in the month of May after achieving a total record time of over 100 hours and her remarkable feat lit the fire of inspiration in the community. Moreover, her story of success and determination ignited the light within several people in the community, pushing them to pursue world records.

However, his journey to bag the world record came to a screeching halt as the authorities stopped him for questioning.

Man and his cycle find support online

The unidentified cycling enthusiast arrived in Nigeria after facing many difficulties in his entire journey. According to eyewitnesses and local media reports, he lost his way and took the wrong directions on multiple occasions. His entire ordeal was about to reach its happy ending but he was stopped by the police on patrol, followed by an intense interrogation and score of questions.

The entire interaction between the cyclist and the police was caught on camera and shared online on Instagram.

Users online were quick to comment on the entire fiasco and expressed their concerns for the man. Reports suggested that the police arrested the man and took him into custody, leaving his record-breaking dream in jeopardy and hanging in the balance.

The police performed their duty and did the right thing by questioning the man about his whereabouts and intentions. Nevertheless, entering into a foreign land unofficially will always warrant strict questioning and some degree of suspicion.
