If you’ve been following Formula One, racecars, or really fast planes, you should have a really good idea of how terrifying high G forces are. Athletes and pilots put their bodies through a lot, and have to undergo a lot of training to withstand the high levels of what their craft demands.

Meet Emma Bryan. She’s a pilot trainee, who recently joined forces with Red Bull for her training. She’s 22 years old and got her first real taste of flights when she was 17. During this training, she experienced what many haven’t experienced so far. 9.5 Gs!

Emma partnered with Red Bull’s Kevin Coleman for her first real aerobatic experience. Wanting to pursue a career in aerobatics, preferably in racing helicopters, this was a perfect first step for her. In a viral video that’s been making rounds since it first popped up in March this year. At the start of the clip, she’s fresh off experiencing 6Gs of force, with Coleman’s voice in the background, asking her if she’s up to taking it up a notch.

Assuming that he meant a spin at 7G, Bryan gladly accepted. What followed was something unexpected for everyone. Piloting the aircraft, Koleman gives her a gist of what to expect. He explains that this would be like a Red Bull Air Race Lift, like the one he did in Cuba.

He ensures that Bryan’s doing okay, and is having a good time, making sure she’s fully prepared. This is essential, as people who don’t undergo rigorous training to withstand G forces, usually pass out by the time they hit 6 or 7 Gs.

He instructs her to brace herself, making sure that she tightens her neck and leg muscles enough to ensure she’ll be alright for what’s coming.

Face Melt Like Raiders of The Lost Ark

Her skin pushed up back against her skin, unable to maintain its composition at such high forces. Coleman executed the lift to perfection, while she really enjoyed herself. “Holy sh*t, that’s so cool!” she exclaimed at the end of the video. Only after this did Coleman reveal that they hit as high as 9,5 Gs during the stunt!

Fans were quick to notice the remarkable display of skill, while still managing to look at the lighter side of things. One Redditor in particular, wrote, “That’s some f**king Raiders of the Lost Ark face-melting”. Obviously, he is drawing parallels to the famous Indiana Jones scene. Others were impressed at how she handled this high a G force like a champ. “That’s really impressive that she got through it at least mostly conscious, assuming she’s not also a highly trained pilot”.

Emma later revealed in an Instagram post, as to how she felt about the whole experience. She wrote, “I recently did my first aerobatic training with Kevin Coleman, a RedBull aerobatic pilot, and immediately fell in love; there’s a video going around of my face being smushed by almost 10 Gs and I could not stop smiling.”

Truly an incredible stunt from the 22-year-old aspiring aerobatic!
