A startling incident at a green light intersection in Singapore has ignited a fierce debate over who bears the responsibility behind it. The scene marked a cyclist getting knocked down after he continued his ride, unaware of the road signals. The unexpected crash took place on October 2nd, at around 8:31 p.m. when the vehicle was approaching the pedestrian crossing. The alleged driver, seemingly oblivious to the cyclist’s presence, had reportedly accelerated into the rider.

When two pedestrians safely stepped onto the pavement,  the driver proceeded without slowing down after the light turned green. Shockingly, from the right lane, a cyclist also continued to cross the road, maintaining a steady pace. As he briefly glanced at the approaching car, the man met with unprecedented damage. Dashcam footage shared on Facebook captured the harrowing moment, sparking arguments about its cause. While this case began its stinging course, the rapid ascent of tragic events involving cycling trips has stirred up the local communities.

Fortunately, the cycling man did not face any serious consequences, as the car was traveling at a slower speed than usual. Although the incident had a reduced impact, it soon prompted a heated online debate among netizens. Many users pointed fingers at the driver, emphasizing the importance of remaining vigilant and watching out carefully. Whereas, some questioned how the car owner could have failed to see the cyclist, speculating on his intention.

However, others extended the benefit of the doubt, as one user suggested that the car’s A-pillar could have obstructed the vehicle rider’s view. Another commenter highlighted the potential differences between the dashcam view and a driver’s perspective. As this case was still under evaluation, a similar accident in the Kallang area has raised eyebrows among cycling enthusiasts.
