Ricarda Bauernfeind, a 23-year-old German pro cyclist has gone from a newbie to the field to a Tour-de-France Femmes stage champion in just 18 months. Yes, you read that right. In a recent interview conducted by Cyclist, Bauernfeind has revealed her inspiring and amazing journey. She revealed the fact that she decided to just do cycling for fun” in the year of 2019. From ending up in the field just a few years back she became a pro and won a Tour stage. 

When she was asked how her ‘self-perception’ managed to keep up with her achievements she stated directly, “I had almost no expectations”. She further added that after joining the Canyon-Sram Generation team she just had a desire to be a part of the professional cycling world to know whether she would prefer the realm or not.

“If someone had told me this would happen in 18 months, I would say no, maybe in five years or something”, said Bauernfeind reflecting on the same fact that has kept cycling enthusiasts stunned. Bauernfeind shared that she learned a lot and continued to grow and develop from race to race.
