White Mountain hiker offers a contrasting tale

The White Mountains of  New Hampshire and the trails of Orange, Massachusetts share more than the untouched wilderness nature has to offer. Today, they are revealed to have been both sides of the same coin. While the case in Orange has stayed under the scrutinizing gaze of the medical examiner, news of another hiking incident from the White Mountains has surfaced online.

In stark contrast to Orange, the White Mountains in New Hampshire presented an epic tale of survival while hiking. Needless to say, Guendoud’s courage was met with adversity after he lost his footing on a slippery rock. Suffering unknown leg and head injuries, he had to fight the elements against him. But when his resilience didn’t suffice, Guendoud had to make a desperate 911 call.

Guendou remained trapped in the cold, rain-soaked, and clouded terrain till the officials arrived at the rescue. Local officials have attributed his misfortune to a lack of experience and preparation. The rescue mission was no easy deed, with a dedicated team of 22 people joining the treacherous rescue attempt using ropes and belays to reach Guendoud.

After locating the hiking mishap victim, they placed him in a litter and descended carefully to ensure the man’s safety. The ordeal was long and grueling, with the first rescuers arriving at 9 p.m. They were only able to move Guendou to the desired spot by 6 a.m. the following day. Of course, his renewed chance at life was worth the effort, as the injured adventurer sought immediate medical help.
