While Travis embarked on his journey to regain mobility and independence, his family faced an uphill battle with the insurance company. Softball comes to the rescue for Travis

After spending three months at Shepherd Center, Travis turned to wheelchair softball. While learning the sport, Travis recalls that he felt great camaraderie and support from individuals who went through similar tragedies. “It’s nice to meet people who are going through the same thing or have gone through the same thing earlier,” he shared, acknowledging the strength that comes from meeting similar people and sharing your experiences with them.

Today, Travis has defied the odds and ventured back into the realm of sports. He is now classified as a high-functioning quadriplegic. Traveling across the country, he embraces the opportunity to compete in different tournaments.

Recently, he emerged triumphant in a tournament in North Carolina. His wife and children often accompany him to tournaments. His wife says with delight, “It feels like I have got my husband back now.”
