The mighty waves of the ocean met the indomitable realm of martial arts as waterman Kai Lenny paid homage to the iconic martial arts legend, Bruce Lee

As the world marks the 50th death anniversary of Bruce Lee, Kai Lenny steps into the limelight with heartfelt respect towards the legend. Even after 50 long years of the untimely passing of the legend, he continues to inspire millions. 

A video was posted on the official Instagram page maintained in memoriam of Bruce Lee by his daughter and family. The page has a staggering follower count of more than 10.4 million. Amongst those 10.4 million people, Kai Lenny and Kelly Slater are two of them. In the video, water sports athlete Kai Lenny can be seen not just with his surfboard in his hand but also with a heart full of honor and respect for a man who continues to inspire many.

The video was captioned, “”#BL50Tribute from @kai_lenny – “Elevate yourself and those around you.” Thank you, Kai Celebrating 50 Years of Bruce Lee’s Legacy all year long.”

As Lenny holds his surfboard and addresses the camera, he introduces himself and reveals how Bruce Lee, a man who left the world years before Lenny was even born, had such a great impact on him. He said, “…he was so inspirational and his philosophies have really stuck with me.” He further continued, “He is somebody that I’ve most wanted to emulate as a person and even though I’m not into the martial arts…I do enjoy and see the parallels of his teachings in Water Sports”

Lenny’s ode to Bruce Lee’s wisdom

Lenny also said, “Growing up, my favorite film of his was ‘Enter the Dragon.'” And also revealed Lenny’s favorite mantra of Lee being, “My favorite mantra of his was ‘to be like water.'”

“I think what he always stood for was elevating yourself and others around you. You know, I hope not in this life but maybe the next I’ll be able to meet Bruce Lee.”, said Lenny revealing his wish to meet him in his next life.
