When the occupants of the Playa Bacocho beach near Puerto Escondido witnessed an airplane hovering dangerously low, most did not bat an eye. However, what unfolded is something you’d expect only in works of fiction. The aircraft directly came towards the beach, and to everyone’s amusement, thumped on the sand while making an abrupt landing. Although the airplane, a Cessna 208B, did not suffer any significant damages, the sudden landing resulted in several injuries. It further took a dark turn with the untimely demise of a man, who was supposedly taking a walk on the beach and was unable to get out of harm’s way. 

As per the reports, the man was 62 years old and was hit by the aircraft on its descent. Such an unusual event has sparked a huge controversy and investigations are underway to find out the root cause of the crash and whether there was a possible foul play. More information has revealed that the aircraft was carrying passengers who signed up for skydiving. So why did the plane have to make an emergency landing? What happened to the passengers?

Skydiving gone wrong

Reports stated that four passengers who were supposedly from Canada boarded the Cessna 208B while signing up for a skydiving adventure. A Mexican pilot was in charge of the plane and everything looked perfect until it was time for the passengers to jump. Much to the horror of all the passengers of the aircraft, the machine experienced a malfunction, which compelled the pilot to search for an emergency landing spot. 

Fortunately, none of the passengers were severely injured even as the plane took an awkward bump while landing on the beach. Panicked civilians present at the beach were quick to inform the authorities. Soon, the firefighters and medical team arrived at the scene, as they carefully extracted the passengers from the aircraft. 

After a preliminary examination, they were transported to the local hospital, where further medical assistance was provided. Thankfully, the latest reports stated that everyone was stable and no significant dangers were associated. 

However, the authorities have taken matters into their own hands and will be thoroughly investigating the incident, especially considering the incident directly resulted in the loss of life for a beach goer.

Security tightened after the tragic loss of life at the beach

The loss of life on the beach is something that has cast a gloomy shadow on the local residents. While the close-knit community of Puerto Escondido is known for its vibrant atmosphere, such an incident has shocked the residents. Local officials have sealed off the site of tragedy and have tightened the security measures all over the beach. 

Meanwhile, as per reports, the identity of the man who sadly died as a result of the incident has not been released yet.

While the investigations are in full swing, a significant traffic disruption can be expected in the vicinity of the crash. Authorities have thus advised tourists and locals to opt for alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
