Group of Senior Cheerleaders in Berks County Are Bringing Joy to the People All Around

The Heritage of Green Hills in Shillington is home to a remarkable group of senior cheerleaders, affectionately known as the Heritage Hotties. Every Thursday, under the guidance of their coach, these spirited individuals come together to embrace the joy of cheerleading!

In this spirited group, every member finds a source of happiness and connection, dispelling the notion that certain pursuits are reserved for the younger generation. As they come together each week, the Heritage Hotties embodies the idea that it’s never too late to explore new passions and find joy in shared activities. Forever young: Cheerleading and joy in senior community!

Most of the members in the groups are old citizens. However, none of them have allowed their age to affect their happiness. The oldest one in the group is 96 years old. Most of the ladies in the group are Heritage of Green Hills residents. Their age group varies between 70-90 years old. Martha Davis, the oldest in the group at 96 years 0ld, initially looked hesitant to join the group, however, later, she did join the cheerleading group.

“We’ve been doing the cheerleading club for about five years now,” says Lavanga. “And it’s a really fun, tight-knit group.” “They don’t take themselves terribly serious,” says Lavanga“Even though you’re getting older, you can still do something fun, exciting and active,” says Lavanga. “We have about nine active members,” she added.

Cheerleading has seamlessly integrated into the fabric of the Heritage’s Wellness Program. The club’s inception can be attributed to the daughter of a colleague who initiated it while on her way to medical college. Since then, the group has been a source of immense joy for its members, serving as a vibrant addition to their lives.

Most of the ladies feel that cheerleading has brought them many changes. Not only does it help them to enjoy but also helps them to exercise. The people in the group have also made some fantastic friendships between them. It’s a pleasure to see the old citizens enjoying their retirement life. None of them want to take up cheerleading as a profession, but use it to keep themselves fit.

The senior cheerleaders at the club are an inspiration to many women. They are proving age is just a number, and a lot can still be achieved.
