Virat Kohli’s 2000+ feat fails to salvage RCB’s debacle

Indian skipper Virat Kohli untowardly found himself and his side Royal Challenger Bangalore on a catastrophic quest in the latest edition of Indian Premier League. One of the major snags which popped in Kohli and his side’s triumphant path was his long running shoulder injury which saw him off squad from the initial encounters in this season of IPL. Later on when he got back to his team, he witnessed an expensive downfall in his team’s star studded batting line up. Subsequently as the league progresses Kohli begun to find his side fall short in the race of becoming champion.

Things didn’t really go too worse for him as he was quite nicely resonating with his smacks through bat. Despite RCB’s downfall Kohli has been intact through out the season so far with his mellow knocks. Starting with a half century in his first IPL match, he has now stepped in to the 2000+ club that too exclusively on the purview of his chasing hunt.

In the latest brawl between RCB and RPS, Kohli was seen exploring onslaught from the first ball of the game. Although his blitz landed up going in vain as chasing 157 put up by RPS turned out to be a massive threat to RCB batsmen. The entire team got bowled out in 96 in which Kohli’s input had been magnificent with his half century knock (55). With this Fifty he got into his 12th 50+ knock for RCB while chasing in IPL, and also surpassed the record of Chris Gayle who previously bagged 11 50+ knock for RCB in such circumstances.

Not only that but this knock of Kohli was special in some other regards as well. With this 50+ knock he now bagged 2021 runs in total at IPL while chasing. By such accomplishment he is now firmly locked the hot seat of being 3rd cricketer to score 2000+ runs in IPL during chase. Following the footstep of Robin Uthappa (2206) and Gautam Gambhir (2347), Kohli has now taken the pride on reaching such feats.

Hopefully in the nearest future, Kohli led side RCB can unearth their lost potential with the expensive hands of Kohli to play the role of the most dominant side in the history of IPL. Although their journey so far has already shut the door to the playoffs but their conclusive touch in this edition of VIVO IPL expected to be marked with courtesy.
