During the second day of the first Test between India vs South Africa in Visakhapatnam, a hilarious incident took place on the ground when South African bowlers lost the ball and Aiden Markram came for rescue.
The penultimate ball of the 129th over went for a boundary as South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj’s delivery was out of wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock’s reach. Everyone thought the ball had gone past the boundary ropes and the fielders started to search towards the other side of the ground.
However, after some time the cameraman zoomed in to search the ball which was stuck between the boundary ropes. By the time, the reserve players of South Africa and an additional cameraman had also joined the fielders in their search. Meanwhile, it was the South Africa opening batsman Aiden Markram who spotted the ball on the big screen and took the ball out of the rope. Aiden Markram was later seen suggesting his teammates that the ball has been found.
Meanwhile, in the game, India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first. They posted a whopping 502/7 before declaring in 136 overs. Opening batsmen in Mayank Agarwal (215) and Rohit Sharma (176) had put up a 317-run partnership to provide a flying start to their side. Keshav Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa with the bowling figures of 55-6-189-3.
In reply, South Africa got off to a horrible start as they lost three quick wickets. Spinners provided a good start to India as Ravichandran Ashwin scalped two wickets whereas Ravindra Jadeja picked up one. South Africa put up 39 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 3 wickets before the stumps. With a huge run on the board and the spinners did their job, India are expected to show a good performance.
