The Belgian Grand Prix weekend took a tragic turn when F2 driver Anthoine Hubert died on Saturday. So, in Sunday’s race, after a minute’s silence, the fans decided to host their own tribute.

On lap 19 of the F1 race, the crowd stood up in unison and gave a standing ovation. This was because, Hubert’s racing number was 19, so as soon as race leader Charles LeClerc started the 19th lap, everyone was on their feet until the lap ended.

It was actually a fan-started gesture that grew on Twitter got to a point where the Formula One Management put a caption about it on screen.

Yesterday, Hubert, Juan Manuel Correa and two other drivers collided in a horrific crash. While the latter two escaped injury, Anthoine Hubert and Juan Correa were not so lucky.

While tragically, Hubert kicked the bucket, Correa suffered two leg fractures and a damaged spine.
