On the day when the final nominations for the Puskas award were to be announced, Bursaspor’s Iasmin Latovlevici scored a goal that is being considered on par with the goals in the race for the FIFA’s award. It might have been second tier football in Turkey, but the quality of the strike is unquestionable.

Busaspor had a free kick in the middle of the park which was hoisted down the left flank. Running in from left back, Latovlecici was about to receive the ball at the edge of the box. A good first touch, and a cross into the box is what any left back would think about. But not Latovlecici. He caught the ball sweetly onto his left foot and executed an extravagant volley past the diving Eskişehirspor goalkeeper.

Amazing goal, Puskas worthy!!Eskişehirspor 0 – |2| Bursaspor from soccer

The outrageous goal for Bursaspor came in the 91st minute after they had opened the scoring in 73rd minute with Kubilay Kanatsizkus. In spite of attempting 15 shots to Bursaspor’s 8, Eskisehirspor suffered a 0-2 defeat at the New Eskişehir Stadium. After playing their third match, Eskisehirspor failed to open their account in the 2019 TFF league and sit at the bottom of the table with a draw and two losses. On the other hand, Bursaspor claimed their second victory on Sunday and are placed fourth in the table with six points.

The victory was confirmed by the outrageous strike from a left back, who is hardly known for his goal scoring abilities. In 299 games before the start of the season, Latovlecici has found the back of the net only 15 times.

Though he might be too late for this season Latovlecici’s goal that sealed Bursaspor’s victory, should certainly be a candidate for the Puskas award next year. The nominations for this year’s awards are finalised and the voting was closed on Sunday.

Turkey witnessed a few more crazy scenes when former Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao’s arrival was awaited. The Columbian striker was given a grand reception and he is expected to join Galatasaray on Monday.
