WATCH: Novak Djokovic Helping Villagers to Harvest Potatoes

World No.1 Novak Djokovic who is recovering from his ongoing shoulder injury was seen harvesting potatoes in a small village in Serbia on Wednesday. In a humble gesture from the 2019 Wimbledon Champion, he helped the local villagers to harvest potatoes.

The Serbian went to a small village called Brzece to reconnect with his childhood memories and help the local people to harvest potatoes. Novak Djokovic also enjoyed the bumpy tractor ride sitting on the sack full of potatoes. The 32-year-old was also spotted to carry the heavy potato bags effortlessly on his injured shoulders.

The Serbian also shared his wonderful experience with his fans as he wrote in a post on Instagram: “Thankful for this humbling experience in Brzece.”

He further praised the local villagers and thanked them for their hospitality. He said: “These people are kind, genuine, hard-working. My heart is full from reviving some childhood memories. I keep on meeting people that have been part of my growing up and have helped me live my dream as a tennis player. Very grateful and touched. And I got a few free potatoes as well for the effort.”

Earlier, Novak Djokovic was forced to retire from the fourth round match at the 2019 US Open after two sets and break down against Stan Wawrinka as he was unable to continue with increasing shoulder pain. The 16-time Grand Slam champion is, however, recovering from his injury and hopes to be back on tour during the Asian swing next month.

Giving an update about his injury, Djokovic said: “I would like to tell when I will be back, but I do not really exactly know. I check the results of my rehabilitation on a daily basis. I check the way shoulder reacts to my recovery. Unfortunately, the injury is more serious than what I imagined”
