Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is labelled as one of the best managers in the history of the game. The Catalan has had an illustrious career to his name, both as a player and now as a manager.

Guardiola won the Primera Division on 6 occasions and also had a European Champion Clubs’ Cup Winner’s medal in his playing days for Barcelona. He called it quits at the age of 35 to turn his focus into building a managerial career.

He started off top-flight management with Barcelona, his boyhood club, winning the La Liga thrice and the Champions League twice before venturing off to Germany and England.

Now in Manchester, Guardiola is currently on course to rewrite record books as his Manchester City side are vying for an unprecedented quadruple. Guardiola is also desperate to win another Champions League title, something which he hasn’t been able to achieve since 2011 with Barcelona.

Many thought that the international break would provide much-needed respite for Guardiola and his jaded City team. But instead, Guardiola was trying his hands on a different venture altogether.

Manchester City, Copa 90 and Wix collaborated on a project to partner with Ipswich-based Sunday League club called Kitchener FC.

The Kitchener FC team was invited to the City Football Academy to be given hands-on footballing knowledge and expertise by the Manchester City coaching staff and the genius Pep Guardiola himself.

Guardiola saw many clips of the players during their Sunday League matches, and dwelled deep into tactics and strategies for the team to get on the next level.

The players at Kitchener were ecstatic at the thought that they were going to be managed by the best footballing coach in the world. “To be analyzed by Pep, or any advice which he can give us would be great”, said one of the players.

Guardiola has often been criticized to be a “luxury manager”, who has only managed to win trophies and titles after inheriting established squads with superstar players at Barcelona, Bayern and now Manchester City.

Surely, we would love to see Guardiola manage a lower-ranked team with limited resources someday. And this is probably how it’s going to be.
