The Sri Lankans had put up a big score, worthy of a final, giving a target of 275 to the Indians. Jayawardene was the star for Sri Lankans hitting 103* of 88 balls which included 13 fours. It was an excellent innings by a star batsman, consisting of the typical late cuts and lofted drives.
