In April, JJ Watt and his wife Kealia Watt surprised everyone, when they became investors in Burnley FC, a soccer team valued at $143 million.

After a dominating run in the EFL Championship, Burnley FC is set to make their return to the Premier League in the upcoming season. And since the investment Watt has consistently shown his love and commitment to the team. This can be seen from his recent attempt of using his persuasive skills to lure millionaire author Shea Serrano into supporting the club.

For those who don’t know, Shea Serrano is one of the most popular authors. He is also the face behind the popular sitcom, Primo. In a tweet, Serrano expressed his desire to start watching soccer and asked for recommendations on which league to follow. He asked for suggestions similar to the NBA and a fan mentioned Premier League.

He then introduced the team to Serrano saying, “We are the Clarets, we’ve been around since 1882 and Turf Moor is our home”. Watt’s witty and humorous approach further solidifies his commitment to his soccer investment. Other than inviting people to support his team, the NFL legend is excited about the new season.

The 2023-24 Premier League season is scheduled to begin on the second weekend of August. And it promises to start with an exciting matchup between Manchester City, the reigning champions, and Burnley, the winners of the EFL Championship.
