Roger Federer was recently voted the GQ Most Stylish Man of the Decade. The Swiss star was voted ahead of many other stars.
However, this became a point of controversy as many felt that it was only his vast fanbase that pushed him to win the award.
Even Roger Federer has time and again poked fun at this achievement of his. He made fun of his award in China. Now, Federer has again mocked his award in Australia.
Roger Federer was in a light-hearted mood while talking about his GQ award.
“What an honour, what a joke. (laughs) Well, that’s online voting I will thank my fans and I’ll also thank my wife”.
Amidst the erupting storm regarding his association with Swiss bank Credit Suisse, Federer credited one of his environmentally responsible partners Uniqlo for their approach towards manufacturing.
The award was decided by the fans in an Instagram based bracket contest. Every day, fans voted between two celebrities on GQ’s Instagram stories. The winner of each contest moved on to the next round.
Federer moved past A$AP Rockey Jonah Hill and Harry Styles before defeating Timothee Chalamet for the title. The competition also featured LeBron James, Kanye West and Ryan Gosling.
However, Federer will not think too much of this achievement as the major test of the Australian Open still awaits him. The year 2020 is very important for him in terms of his legacy. Even though he has clarified in the past that he doesn’t think too much of it, the looming thought of his 20 grand slams record in jeopardy would cross his mind.
He’ll try his best to defend his crown.
