On Thursday, among many youngsters looking for a contract that would give them the opportunity to shine alongside the big players on the big stage was a 19-year old Ravi Bishnoi.

A wave of joy must have surrounded him wherever he might have been, watching franchises constantly putting up a new bid for him until they finally stopped at Rs. 2 crore.

Kings XI Punjab eventually won the bid for the 17-year old at a price 10 times his base price. Not only will Bishnoi now be sharing the dressing room with the likes of Chris Gayle, he will now be able to showcase his skills on one of the biggest stages.

Who is Ravi Bishnoi?

Ravi Bishnoi is a promising leg spinner from Rajasthan. Bishnoi had made his List A debut only in September this year, playing for Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He had however, already played for Rajasthan in the shorter format in the 2018-19 Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy.

Hardly a month after his List A debut, he was named in the India A squad for the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy. He has so far played six List A and six T20 matches, picking up eight and six wickets respectively.

He is also a part of India’s squad for the upcoming U-19 World Cup to be held in South Africa.

Bishnoi is now under Anil Kumble-

As a leg spinner, Bishnoi is known to posses a good googly in his armoury. Joining the Kings XI Punjab now, he must be looking to revel under a leg spinner who has close to 1000 international wickets. Bishnoi must be looking forward to a significant growth in his career playing under Anil Kumble during his stint at Punjab. Bishnoi is also known to be a handy lower order batsman and an excellent fielder, making him a great addition to the side.
