Whopping Viewership Figures for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) data, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 captured 315 million impressions in its opening two weeks on the Star India network from across the country.

While the first week of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 was reached till 269 million viewers The BARC data also suggests that the television viewership of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has been 182.7 million average impressions. The figures are of the target markets of the urban and rural audience aged above two-years consuming TV at home and outside.

While Star Sports India claims that a total of 166 million people watched India vs Australia match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 which was held on June 9, where the ‘Men in Blue’ defeated the defending champions my 36 runs at the Oval in London.

On the other hand, India’s first match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against South Africa on June 5 captured 180 million viewers.

Reach refers to the number of people who have seen the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 for at least a minute. While impressions refer to the number of people watching the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 or a particular match live, at any given point of the time.

Star Sports India who is the official partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments in the country gave credits to regionalization, high decibel marketing campaign, and special programming for a whopping viewership for the ICC World Cup 2019.

Star Sports India have been broadcasting the quadrennial event across its channels in seven languages – English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam. All the matches featuring India are being involved in all of these languages.

It will be interesting to see the high viewership figures when the tournament reaches its final stages, featuring some high-voltage clashes for the biggest title of cricket.
