Going into 2020, UFC 249 will main event Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson for the UFC lightweight championship of the world. And there are enough reasons to believe that the fight may end with the doctors coming in, to stop the fight. And that’s favoring Tony Ferguson for all the right reasons.

There haven’t been many fights where doctors decided to stop the match. But the most recent match is still in our memory. It happened at UFC 244 in the main event for the BMF title between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. 

Tony Ferguson and his Hellbows

Ferguson’s elbows, or also called hellbows, have wreaked havoc on almost every fighter that he has faced at the lightweight division in UFC. Ferguson has made almost all his opponents bleed inside the octagon. It’s a blood bath whenever Ferguson steps inside the cage. 

Something similar could take place at the main event of UFC 249, where Khabib Nurmagomedov will collide against the former interim lightweight champion of the world, Tony Ferguson.

Ferguson has a nasty habit of busting fighters up during the fight. He has some of the most incredible moves in his arsenal, but his most lethal move is his elbow strikes. Ferguson’s hellbows is something to be scared about, as it has busted so many fighters in the past. 

It won’t be surprising to see Ferguson use the same move against undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. While it could well be the first time that Khabib might bleed inside the octagon, it can result in a big upset for the UFC fans.

The Hellbows will definitely shed some blood off Khabib Nurmagomedov

We can’t be so sure that nothing disappointing will turn out in a match that involves both these fighters. The fight has been called off four times in the past. However, if the match does take place this time, we could be in for an upset in the form of a doctor stoppage. 

The fight is happening at Barclays Centre, New York. The last time a fight happened in New York was at UFC 244 between Masvidal and Diaz. The match ended with doctor stopping the fight at the end of round three because of a flurry of punches that rendered Diaz’s right eye bloodied. 

If something similar happens in New York again, it will be another disappointing end to Ferguson and Nurmagomedov rivalry. If there’s blood, and both the fighters refuse to give up, the doctors might take the final decision.
