Tennis is one of the oldest sports and the Wimbledon Championships is one of the oldest tournaments played in this prestigious sport. It is played on the grass courts, which is a traditional surface and has been into flow since 1877. Fans from all over the world attend this event and are often considered a top priority by every avid tennis fan.

At Wimbledon, they follow a different method of issuing tickets for fans. The majority of the tickets sold to the general public are issued by a public ballot that the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club held at the start of the year. This procedure has been followed since 1924.

However, this year there won’t be any ballot system due to the ongoing battle with the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets for the public to attend the Wimbledon Championships 2021 will be made available online and the process is expected to begin in June.

Spectators holding last year’s tickets will be given first preference at Wimbledon 2021

In the previous year, spectators purchased tickets and will be given first preference to purchase their tickets for this year’s edition as the event was canceled in 2020. However, organizers are being cautious to ensure they are able to react to changing circumstances that may lead to an increase or decrease in attendance.

Due to the pandemic, there have numerous changes with regard to fans attending. Curbing large crowds help reduce the spread of the virus. To not have full capacity attendance in tournaments has been a policy followed by most organizers recently and will be followed in SW 19 too.
