By 5 years ago

The world cup 2015 is now almost 2 weeks old and what we have witnessed so far has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Teams that looked invincible on paper now look rusty and toothless whereas teams from whom much wasn’t expected have shocked everyone with their play. Clearly these are good signs for the upcoming days as the world cup has become more unpredictable and at the same time more exciting with the passing days.

Now here’s a look at the world cup 11 of this week.

Shikhar Dhawan

The flashy Indian opener has got his act right just chipping in at the right moment with the runs. His two innings of 73 and 148 against Pakistan and South Africa have shown glimpses of his capabilities as a batsman.

Brendon McCullum

He has had a reputation of being one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball and one of the most feared batsmen in the world. In this world cup he has stood up to expectations and has been one of the greatest causes of worry for the bowlers. His recent exploits against srilanka and England are enough to validate this.

Virat Kohli

Having a batsman like Virat in any team is a huge burden off the shoulders and act as a ace in your sleeve. The way he paces his innings is worth admiring and his chanceless knocks are a treat to watch.

His ton against Pakistan was one of his notable performances during this week.

Marlon Samuels

Marlon Samuels has also impressed one and all with his batting temperament in this world cup and has been one of the better batsmen in this world cup. He has played well against Ireland as well as Zimbabwe in the world cup.

Glenn Maxwell

He came into the limelight with his heroics in the shortest format of the game during the ipl as well as well as the big bash league and since then he has been a sensation. His superb knock against England showed his credentials as a batsman and the potential threat he is for the other teams.

Mitchell Marsh

He has been a very high utility player for the aussies in this tour. His all round capabilities have been a big boost for the aussies. His spectacular show against the English team won Australia a crucial encounter.

Corey Anderson

Yet another power packed played which the Kiwis wield in their squad. Anderson has now cemented his spot into the Kiwi squad by virtue of his aggressive batting and tight bowling. He has been quite successful this world cup and has had a few good games in the tournament.

Jerome Taylor

Jerome Taylor has been one of the biggest reasons which have led to revival of westindian hopes this world cup. His lethal bowling performances in all the matches have shown that this guy still has some fire in his belly and can perform and win matches for his team.

Tim Southee

Words would fail to express the way Tim has performed in the world cup so far. He has looked miles ahead of other bowlers and has not looked in any sort of trouble whatsoever. His breathtaking spell against England was one spell to watch. Hope there’s more to come.

Shami Ahmed

He has been Indias unsung hero in the 2 matches concluded so far. His disciplined bowling has ensured that India is able to defend totals of 300 odd runs quite comfortably in both the games. He has picked up 6 wickets in the world cup so far the highest by an Indian bowler so far.

Shapoor Zadran

This lanky Afghan bowler has won many hearts with his effort and his commitment towards his bowling. He is a bowler who bowls with a big heart and has done a lot to find his name in the top 11 of the world cup this week.
