The year tournament of the WTA circuit has declared its doubles champions. The BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore doubles champions are the 25-year-olds Timea Babos of Hungary and Kristina Mladenovic of France. Babos and Mladenovic qualified for the final after a thrilling semi-final match, defeating Ashleigh Barty and Coco Vandeweghe 10-8 in the super tiebreak set. The Australian Open champions steamrolled upon the Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, 6-4, 7-5, in the Singapore final. “The first tournament of the season, we won a slam (Australian Open) and the last tournament of the season we won… it’s a privilege,” Mladenovic said after the match. In Singapore with their 84-minute victory, they earned they earned their third title of the year. Additionally, the pair achieved their second victory against the 22-year-old Czechs in two meetings.
The Hungarian, Babos won her Singapore crown for the second consecutive time. She won the WTA Finals in 2017 alongside Andrea Sestini Hlavackova. Krejcikova and Siniakova held the titles at Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year. Also, claimed the year-end World Number one ranking after their semifinal victory on Saturday in Singapore. Babos and Mladenovic dominated the match effectively and showered 25 winners to19 unforced errors. They broke the Czechs three times. Krejcikova and Siniakova were skilful on the net. However, their 15 winners were annulled by 20 unforced errors.
Both the ladies teams took off the match remarkably. The movement on court was quick.They dominated their service games with ease. The ladies clung to their serves until 3-3. Siniakova’s messed up her second service game, committing a double fault. Which aided her opponents with a 4-3 lead in the opening set. The French-Hungarian duo served for the set at 5-4, sealed the opening frame on the second set point in the game. However, in the second set, Mladenovic squandered two match points on her own serve. However a volley from Babos end forced Siniakova to commit an error which aided them to seize the WTA Finals title on the third match point.
