Mirra Andreeva has become the talk of the town after her landmark win over Anastasia Potapova at Wimbledon. The 16-year-old sensation moves to the second week of the slam in just her second slam appearance. From tussling in the ITF tour and Juniors, she suddenly finds herself notching wins in the WTA tour.

Currently live-ranked at 64, Mirra Andreeva has been taking plenty of questions about her tennis preferences. She has previously admitted to crushing on Andy Murray. Now, the Russian reveals looking up to the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Who does Andreeva prefer between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal?

Well, Andreeva did not pick an outright favorite between the two GOATs. However, she revealed who was her childhood idol and who inspired her. The Russian said, “I always admire Federer. He was always my favorite. But after Rafa won RG 2022, I was so impressed bc after an injury he won AO & RG. I can say I try to copy him sometimes, mentally. I try to ask ‘What would he do in these moments?

Roger Federer was Andreeva’s childhood favorite and probably her favorite player to watch. But, it was Rafael Nadal and his fighting spirit that inspires the teenager. She tries to emulate him and look up to the 22-time major champion. Can she follow in the footsteps of her inspiration Rafa and create history come Saturday?

Only a few players have achieved the historic feat of winning a slam as a teenager. Rafael Nadal is one of the few who engraved his name on the Musketeers Cup as a teenager when he won the Roland Garros in 2005. While Andreeva still has three more years to achieve the feat, there is an opening for the 16-year-old here at Wimbledon. However, she will have to go through an incredibly difficult draw.

Andreeva is scheduled to play Madison Keys tomorrow for a place in the quarter-finals. Her projected draw from there is a nightmare. The Russian will most likely have to beat Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek – The WTA Big 3, on the bounce to win the slam.
