Introducing her new special shoe, the Coco CG1 ‘City Brights,’ the 19-year-old American sensation showed off the vibrant colors that matched perfectly with her enthralling playing style. With the U.S. Open excitement all around, the ‘City Brights’ shoes light up the tennis court with bright greens, reds, and browns reflecting Gauff’s lively personality. But it was the personal revelation behind why the shoes mattered more than her previous releases that resonated all around.

The kicks are scrawled across with color strips and hidden “Easter eggs” inspired by her family scattered all over the shoe. But hidden in the design of the eye-catching pair are also small details inspired by her family, from her father’s sayings from her childhood to her mother’s advice. Gauff explained, “When I’m on court, I like to be reminded of my family, so I wanted to include that.”

When the reputed sneaker brand needed a fresh perspective for Coco’s updated sneaker release, Cameron came to the rescue. One of the company’s product designers sent him a ‘how to make a sneaker’ handbook, and the young boy sent over a set of his drawings and interpretations. New Balance then launched their first kids’ performance tennis shoe called the Coco CG1 Kids.
