In an interview with the Times last year, Gilbert revealed that his training for Zendaya lasted for three months in California. There, he took the actress to watch matches at Pepperdine University. Then Brad Gilbert accompanied her for four months, filming scenes and rehearsals in Boston and New York. Therefore, the interaction between them was close and influential.

Gilbert said about Zendaya– “Believe it or not, actors got a lot of the same DNA as tennis players. So I really think that working with Zendaya kind of really maybe, was impedance for good experience for working with Coco. Well take Z, she is driven to be the best she can and a lot of tennis players did.”
