King Richard director opens up on Venus and Serena Williams

‘King Richard’ has received appreciation, from fans and critics alike, across the world since its debut on the silver screen. In an interview, the director, Reinaldo Marcus Green, talked about the relationship between the Williams sisters. Green is famously known for his critically acclaimed 2018 film, Monsters and Men.

He remembered something that Venus Williams had said to him and stated, “Venus said something along the lines of, ‘Serena’s the kind of sister that would skip a match to see me practice.’ And that just hit home for me because I know how close I am with my own sibling. That’s not something you mess with. That’s real.”

From the succinct yet valuable description given by Green, it’s clear that the bond between Venus and Serena is incredibly close. The sisters have always looked completely comfortable in each other’s company, on and off the court.
