King Richard Williams’ ‘Thunder and Lightning’ Strategy Tale Unveiled in a Gripping Admission by Serena Williams’ Childhood Coach

Serena Williams and Venus Williams were two very dedicated individuals during their childhood. This dedication helped them a lot to become the best players in the history of tennis. However, their dedication didn’t come naturally but came as a result of their father’s strategies. Richard Williams pushed his daughters and fed their dreams of becoming tennis greats. He also helped them develop the mental ability required to reach this stage.

Rick Macci, the coach who uplifted the Williams sisters, recently revealed one method that Richard Williams used, to improve the mental abilities of his daughters. He shared the post on his social media with his usual excitement.

How Serena Williams and Venus Williams trained

Looking at the way they played at the highest levels, one can imagine Serena Williams and Venus Williams practicing and exercising for hours in all weather conditions. While tennis can be played in most conditions, playing it in rain becomes almost impossible. However, King Richard’s fire burned bright in the rain, and he trained his daughters to be the same. 

Macci recently revealed that the two Williams sisters trained in the rain as Richard Williams motivated them to continue playing. He wrote, “We would train Even in the Rain as Richard always told the girls to bring the THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. The KING was cut from a different CLOTH but as DAD used it to Dry them off!@serenawilliams @Venuseswilliams.

While Richard Williams taught the two all that they needed to know on how to go beyond expectations in the sport, he also ensured that they learned necessary life skills. Aside from training, he would also encourage their social skills, one of which pertained to tennis.

How Richard Williams trained the Williams sisters for the cameras

While teaching them tennis was important, it was equally important to teach the two sisters how to address the media. Rick Macci revealed in a recent post that Richard Williams would often pull out his tripod and have mock interviews with his daughters. He practiced this with Venus and Serena Williams thrice a week and taught them how to answer when they found themselves surrounded by all kinds of questions.

His efforts led to great success as the two sisters gave interviews, which went on to become models for others. Richard Williams’ efforts for his daughters led to their success. Now, the two will pass on the knowledge to the next generation adding some tweaks of their own.
