Saddening News From Former Legend Lucie Safarova as Her Tennis Dream With Niece Gets Shattered Owing to Stringent ITF Rule

36-year-old Lucie Safarova ended her journey with tennis in the year 2019 in May. Her last match was at the French Open in the doubles round first match along with Dominika Cibulkova. Later on, the tennis star got married to Tomas Plekanec and even had two children, a girl and a boy.

Recently, there were speculations about Lucie making a comeback as she announced that she was playing with her niece Emma Dvorackova at the W25 Reims event. However, all her hopes have been shattered as an unknown rule of the tennis world has come into the picture that has left her sad and disappointed. And her fans too!

Recently Lucie had announced that she would be playing at the W25 Reims event along with her niece Emma. However, that won’t be happening now as a new rule has come into being. A tennis fan page posted a statement by Lucie where she can be seen explaining how she won’t be able to play at the tournament anymore.

Lucie said, “My participation has been qualified as an official return to professional tennis. I was not informed of this mandatory procedure. Even though it’s very disappointing to me, I want to thank the tournament.

Since she was not planning a comeback, but just returning to play a few matches with her niece before her exhibition tournament, she won’t be able to play in the $25,000 tournament in Reims.

Even though Lucie’s fans want her to make a comeback, she is in no mood to do so. This is what she had to say about making a comeback.

Lucie shares how making a comeback to tennis is not an option

Tennis fans were hopeful that Lucie would be back in tennis with the Hologic WTA tour. But she explained that even though she loves tennis and enjoys it still, she is not coming back. The Czech player also said that she belongs to a tennis family. Thus, the game will be taken forward by the next generation. She and her sister played doubles, and now her nieces are playing and that is what is best.

Further, Lucie also shared how she wishes to focus more on her family and her children. Even though many fans of Lucie would have wanted to see her play with her niece, her niece will surely carry out the amazing tennis legacy that she created.
