Williams posted a story on her official Instagram handle where she shared Wondermind’s post about Gomez explaining the reason for starting this initiative.

Gomez revealed that the idea to start Wondermind stemmed from the fact that she, along with her co-founders, wanted to help mothers and daughters talk openly about issues surrounding their mental health. A conversation with her co-founder, Mandy Teefey was a turning point in beginning this initiative as both of them related to this common problem.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams has herself gone through a lot of tough times and had to battle anxiety and depression during her career. She once revealed how she coped with tough times during her playing days.

Williams made a candid confession about battling mental health issues
During an interview with Selena Gomez a couple of years ago, Williams opened up about tackling anxiety and depression. The American tennis legend stated, “I’ve been through a lot of things in my life. Just a lot. So there are some times when I’m like, I need to stop talking to people.”

Further, she went on to add, “But I think it is important to talk to people. I’m really super intense but that’s my passion. I’m really incredibly tense—intense, not tense. Intense is a better word.”
Williams’ $5 million investment in Gomez’s Wondermind helped the latter skyrocket her net worth to $800 Million. Indeed, it proved to be a fruitful investment for all the parties involved, with Williams showcasing her cause-based investment.
