On August 21, Sloane Stephens launched her exciting new body care brand, Doc & Glo, just in time for the 2024 U.S. Open. Despite early exits in both singles and doubles matches at the Grand Slam, the 2017 champion is making waves with a personal hygiene brand. Stephens created Doc & Glo to tackle the body odor that comes with being an active player on the court.

As a former World No. 3 in doubles and four-time Grand Slam champion, she understands the challenges athletes face first-hand. Her rise in the ranks not only gave her insight into the mindset of top contenders but also inspired her to give back to the community.

While the main inspiration for Sloane Stephens’ body care brand, Doc & Glo, came from the idea of “Document Your Glow,” she wanted to pay homage to her first muse in life. “My grandpa was Doc. He was an OB/GYN who delivered 60,000 babies! My grandma [Glo] was so glamorous—she had all these girl groups and was always giving back to the community,” Stephens shared with WWD back in August. With Doc & Glo, not only did she launch a brand; she paid homage to her family’s legacy and the life lessons they instilled in her. But where did she get this idea from?

Well, the COVID-19 pandemic ignited the spark for this venture during her time in locker rooms. “During COVID, we couldn’t shower in the locker rooms, and it was terrible. Everyone was super stinky and smelly,” she added. “I wanted to create products that inspired a new generation to feel good and refreshed—even if you couldn’t take a shower!”

After testing and trying out products for nearly four years, Doc & Glo kicked off with two standout products: the No. 3161 Game-Changing Deodorant for $18 and the 24/7 Hustle Deodorizing Body Mist for $22. The deodorant boasts a clean, fragrance-free formula that’s refillable and ready to hit shelves. It has since made waves in the beauty industry, especially through its collaboration with Thirteen Lune, a platform dedicated to promoting beauty brands founded by people of color.

In the following months, Stephens has expanded her Doc & Glo body care line with two exciting new products! The Think Rich Luxe Body Lotion offers deep hydration without any greasy residue, thanks to its pH-balanced formula. Alongside this is the Big Money Glo Cooling Body Scrub, which combines physical and chemical exfoliation to invigorate your skin. Infused with pumice, bamboo, hyaluronic acid, and peppermint, promising a refreshing spa-like experience at home!

“Everything I do is about family and sport,” she emphasized, making it clear that this brand is deeply personal and not just another celebrity side hustle. To ensure her products resonate with everyone, Stephens turned to her family for testing. Noting that her stepdad was her “number-one tester.” She proudly emphasized the inclusivity of her brand, saying, “I want someone to be able to put it in their bathroom and not know who it’s for!”

How does she connect her brand to tennis?

Last year, the 2017 US champion was buzzing about the revival of the sport. “I feel like tennis has its waves, right? There will be moments where it’s very popular, very cool. Obviously, this year has been one of those moments,” she noted. With cool collaborations and a surge in interest, tennis is back in the spotlight. Additionally, she noticed she could help her fellow athletes and her brand look better.

Knowing that being an athlete requires on-the-go practical solutions. “There are plenty of wipes out there, but I want to get creative in the body care space,” she said. Her testing process? Taking her products on training camps and asking fellow athletes if they still stink afterward! “I was just asking everyone on tour, ‘Do you still stink?’ after they used it. That’s how I really put these products to the test and found out they worked,” she mentioned to Vogue.

While her 2024 season may have had its ups and downs on the court, Sloane is optimistic about what lies ahead for Doc & Glo. “One day I’ll be retired from tennis, and this will be what I’m super passionate about—running this business,” she added. Now she’s heading into the 2025 Australian Open to face the top seed Aryna Sabalenka in her first round, Stephens seems ready to blend her love for the sport with her entrepreneurial spirit through Doc & Glo.
