This has to do with the fact that 2K20 failed to hit any of the previous standards of the series. Fans and critics alike absolutely panned the latest series. The title received abysmal ratings of 50% or less from all major gaming publications.

In a statement confirming there won’t be a WWE 2K20, the publisher said they wished to give the developers some breathing space to come up with an appealing game.

“We want to ensure the development team at Visual Concepts can create a great game that will entertain grizzled WWE 2K veterans, as well as newcomers who want to climb through the ropes and step into the ring for the very first time.”

Saber Interactive, the developers who brought us NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, will develop the new title in the WWE 2K franchise. Hence, you can expect something similar to the arcade basketball game. The brand new game will feature legendary classic wrestlers like The Rock, Steve Austin, and more, which is sure to delight age-old fans of the sport.

“We’re focusing on social pick-up-and-play fun, but with plenty of depth for those who want to get way into it.”

While 2K has confirmed the title will launch in Fall, it has yet to announce the compatible platforms.
