WWE 2K Announce New Title In Place of 2K21

In some disappointing news for fans, WWE 2K announced there won’t be a 2K21 title coming out this year. Instead, fans will get a new title named WWE 2K Battlegrounds this year. The new title will be an arcade-style wrestling game. Moreover, it will feature some of the most popular wrestlers in WWE history.

2K Confirms Rumors

The WW 2K series is a highly popular game, and 2K has always released a game each year. However, for the first time since the first title released in 2000, the franchise will not get a new game. The developers recently announced they will skip a year.

This has to do with the fact that 2K20 failed to hit any of the previous standards of the series. Fans and critics alike absolutely panned the latest series. The title received abysmal ratings of 50% or less from all major gaming publications.

In a statement confirming there won’t be a WWE 2K20, the publisher said they wished to give the developers some breathing space to come up with an appealing game.

“We want to ensure the development team at Visual Concepts can create a great game that will entertain grizzled WWE 2K veterans, as well as newcomers who want to climb through the ropes and step into the ring for the very first time.”

WWE 2K Battlegrounds to Keep You Occupied Until Next 2K Series

Saber Interactive, the developers who brought us NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, will develop the new title in the WWE 2K franchise. Hence, you can expect something similar to the arcade basketball game. The brand new game will feature legendary classic wrestlers like The Rock, Steve Austin, and more, which is sure to delight age-old fans of the sport.

“We’re focusing on social pick-up-and-play fun, but with plenty of depth for those who want to get way into it.”

While 2K has confirmed the title will launch in Fall, it has yet to announce the compatible platforms.
