2K sports has been handling WWE games majorly since 2013. However, this year things are taking a turn as the new WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a lot different from what fans are used to.

WWE 2K – what to expect?

The latest addition is not next in line for the main series. Rather, the game is an arcade simulator that you’d have normally seen during the initial years of wrestling games.

The game has mostly seen mixed reactions from the gaming community. While some find the trailer engaging, others feel it is too cartoonish, and aren’t happy with how 2K and Nintendo unfolded things.

During the Direct Mini, Nintendo showcased a short clip of actual WWE wrestlers playing the game. The wrestlers who tried out the game included New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Big E alongside Cesaro and WWE RAW Women’s Champion Asuka.

Many can relate the game to WWE All-Stars; another fast-paced wrestling game that was a huge hit among the fans. Do note that Battlegrounds alter reality in a much different way and the game truly packs in a lot.

The four wrestlers chose the characters of Andre the Giant, Stone Cold, John Cena, and Jeff Hardy to play the game with. It was unclear as to who chose whom, as the short video describes nothing of that sort.

What followed was blazing moves and over-the-top WWE finishers being delivered. Stone Cold even bought in a bike to engage the attack. The game is nothing like All-Stars and has come up with entirely new gameplay to keep things fresh as possible.

Major Superstars from the WWE roster will be available in the game and, perhaps, pre-ordering the game could bring much more to the table.

The game is not comparable with the likes of other 2K WWE games. However, the fun and fast-paced gameplay seems to suggest that, in the end, the game might just exceed expectations.
