

Cody Rhodes’ departure from AEW was a big shock for the Khan family. Rhodes was one of the founding members of AEW and when he said ‘goodbye’, Tony Khan was left jaw-dropped. Now, Tony Khan is doing everything he could do to avoid Cody Rhodes’ deja vu. Lately, a report has come out that the AEW president is trying hard to make two other founding members stay in the company.
AEW is not ready to lose another gem after Cody Rhodes
Recently, the ‘Wrestling Observer Newsletter’ has reported that Tony Khan is focusing on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) signing a long-term contract with AEW. The report says the AEW president is taking this step to avoid what happened with Cody Rhodes also came out.

The report said, “AEW is working on signing the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega to new long-term deals well before they become free agents.”
It is also reported that Kenny Omega’s AEW contract had already expired at the beginning of 2023. But, since he was away from the squared circle because of multiple injuries for a long time, he has to serve the company for another year.
Even Tony Khan lately confessed that he is willing to work with the former AEW world champion for a long time to come. It is not only the of the contract expiry that is making Khan worry, WWE is also playing a major role in adding fuel to this fire.
WWE is reportedly enhancing Tony Khan’s problem
The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are among the founding members of All Elite Wrestling. They were the executive vice presidents when Tony Khan founded the company along with Cody Rhodes in 2019.

While Rhodes left AEW in 2022 because of the terms of the new contract (as reported), Omega and Young Bucks kept working for Tony Khan’s company.
‘The Best Bout Machine’ has an open mind about jumping ship and it is already making AEW CEO worry. And on top of that, WWE’s willingness of hiring Omega is adding fuel to this fire. Previously, Khan even alleged WWE, for approaching the AEW stars before their contract ended.

Now that their contract is about to expire, the stars must be exploring the other options that they have. For now, only time could tell, whether they keep working with AEW or sign a contract with WWE, or they’d just become free agents.
