MJF using The Rock's name—Genius marketing or blatant clout chasing?

All Elite Wrestling is not going through its best moments as far as numbers are concerned. The company has suffered a setback in ticket sales and audience registrations for its weekly shows. However, it seems that the future of the company is hopeful, and many of its talents trust its project. One of the most striking messages has come from MJF. A former world champion and one of the best-known faces of All Elite Wrestling. Throughout his career at AEW, MJF has conquered several championships in the company. In fact, he held the AEW World Championship gold for more than 400 days. However, Samoa Joe ended this reign at AEW Worlds End 2023. His very best friend, Adam Cole betrayed him.

Getting dethroned as the top champion allowed him to take a long break from wrestling. Which further led to rumors of him being on his way to the WWE. However, MJF proved his loyalty toward Tony Khan by making his return at AEW Double or Nothing 2024. And since then, he has been on the path of proving himself to be “Better than you” and better than everyone on the roster. In fact, he also released new merch that says this out loud. However, it seems like the fans do not believe that his merch is the best. In fact, they think that AEW might’ve stolen the design from The Rock‘s merch instead!

In a recent tweet, AEW announced the recent USA t-shirt merch by MJF that fans can start purchasing on their website. However, a Twitter user by the name of @VicDaGreat94 was quick to notice that the design, font, and spacing of the letters are eerily similar to the ones on Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s all-American ‘Just Bring It’ merch. And the user was quick to take a jibe at the Tony Khan-led promotion by sharing the image of the Rock merch and calling out AEW by tweeting, “Not one original idea.” And the diss hits differently after knowing that a few days ago, MJF took a jibe at the WWE and Tama Tonga for Tonga’s MFT merch that emulated MJF’s merchandise.

Well, it can be a case of coincidence, but the resemblance is surely uncanny. With rumors suggesting that Tony Khan is made a part of everything that happens in All Elite Wrestling, it seems like either he knew about them stealing the design or maybe he just forgot that an exactly similar design was released by their direct competitors. So it looks like the AEW design team has betrayed MJF the same way that he betrayed Daniel Garcia on AEW Dynamite.

MJF stabs Daniel Garcia in the back

Since MJF returned to AEW at Double or Nothing in late May, he has slowly approached Daniel Garcia until he gained his trust. The young wrestler was facing one of the most important matches of his career against Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship on Wednesday. MJF was in his corner, but what happened after the fight was unexpected for Garcia.

Have an interesting take?

In the final moments of the match, MJF offered him his ‘Dynamite Diamond Ring’ twice to hit Ospreay. But being a good guy, he refused. The Englishman took advantage of it to apply the Hidden Blade and thus retain the AEW International Championship. After the match, MJF approached Daniel Garcia to do the same, but ended up hitting a low blow. He then applied a tombstone pile driver from the corner, which forced the medical services to take Garcia to the hospital immediately. So maybe the design team too should stay away from MJF. Especially if they do not want a hospital bed beside Garcia. What do you think? Did AEW steal the design? Let us know in the comments.
