During the latest edition of the Fightful Wrestling Podcast, Sean Ross Sapp talked about the contract situations of MJF and Drew McIntyre. When a user asked him if the contract situation between the two was similar, Sapp had something very interesting to share. He mentioned that MJF’s contract situation came to light from the very beginning. Moreover, the AEW talent has teased the prospect of a renewal. However, McIntyre wasn’t approached with a contract until last month! He said, “This isn’t the same. It’s not the same. MJF was playing it up as if he didn’t re-sign, Drew McIntyre does not mention his contact on TV. He might post a cute little picture or something like that. They didn’t approach him till last month.”

He further added, “That was likely a contributing factor to the former AVP of talent getting fired. Was the fact that he didn’t approach Drew McIntyre until way late in the game. And now Drew McIntyre is a few weeks away from his contract expiring and has all the leverage in the world.” This means that the Scotsman might not actually re-sign with the WWE until the company bows down to his demands. But how likely is he to sign? Let’s look at his recent bookings and storylines to take a guess.

Drew McIntyre’s recent storylines may provide the answer to his future

Drew McIntyre’s current extended deal is set to expire in the coming months. The wrestler has expressed on several occasions his desire to remain in WWE, although he has also shown confidence that he can succeed outside the company in the event of having to leave it. This can be proven by the fact that he has remained a center of attraction for the Stamford-based promotion.

McIntyre achieved his goal of winning a world championship on a big stage. The Scot defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. However, his celebration came to an abrupt end after CM Punk attacked him. This led to McIntyre being the victim of the exchange of the Money in the Bank briefcase by Damian Priest, who finally left the grand event with the gold on his waist.

The Scottish Psychopath tried to get another chance on the episode of Raw after WrestleMania XL, but once again, Punk thwarted his plans, costing him the victory in the main event and, therefore, his chance. So fans can expect the rivalry between Drew and Punk to spread in the coming months. And given that this is another top-tier feud being given to McIntyre, he might re-sign with the WWE. What do you think? Will McIntyre jump ship or remain a part of team HHH? Let us know in the comments.
