A dream match that was in the making for ages finally came to fruition in All Elite Wrestling’s latest Pay Per View event. After finally starting his full-time adventure in AEW, the Aerial Assassin found the most complex opponent to come across his path. The American Dragon has been the best in the world for years, a spot Ospreay feels he deserves at the moment. Nevertheless, a clash of the best transpired to find the answer to the burning question.

And the winner was a member of the Don Callis Family after Ospreay performed a Hidden Blade that ended one of the most prominent clashes of the PPV. However, Danielson may have lost more than the match. He received a blow to the back of the head during a ‘storm driver’. Nevertheless, this scared Ospreay enough that he revealed that he wanted to retire the move.

During the post-show media scrum, Will Ospreay came out in front of the media to address the incident. The former NJPW star apologized for the injury caused. Moreover, Ospreay revealed that he reviewed the footage and confirmed his suspicions that the injury was inflicted by the storm driver. He then made a stunning statement. He said, “90% of the time the move’s been absolutely fine. Seeing the damage that it’s kinda done, I’m gonna retire the Storm Driver 91. I don’t think it’s right for me to continue using it after seeing what I did to Bryan.”

Without a doubt, this was perhaps one of the most anticipated duels of the night. And one that stole the show and the spotlight from the headline fights. Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay faced off in a match where honor and victory were at stake. And while Ospreay won the match, it doesn’t look like he got to enjoy the win because of the severity of Danielson’s injury. But that did not stop him from adding more action to his interviews instead, as he took a dig at none other than Triple H.

Right after he announced that he would retire his move, he announced another change. And what is it? He won’t be taking further shots at the WWE and Triple H. And while it may seem like a compromise to negate the heat, Ospreay had other reasons in mind. He said, “I felt like I lowered myself to that standard. And I don’t need to do that anymore.” He further went ahead and called the WWE beneath him.

Well, it sure looks like it was less of a ceasefire and more of a jab at the COO of the WWE. Now only time will tell how HHH responds to the new ‘Best Wrestler in the World’.
