When CM Punk took his hiatus from pro-wrestling in 2014, many fans believed that he was done with his career in the squared circle. His departure also convinced not only the fans, but other wrestling entities as well, that Punk would not return after what happened between him and WWE.

However, everything changed when Punk made his debut in AEW in August this year, which left everyone speechless. But not former NXT Champion, Samoa Joe. In fact, he claims that he always knew that Punk would come back to wrestling.

Speaking with WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle on ‘The Kurt Angle Show’, the three times NXT Champion admitted he knew since 2019 that Punk was eyeing a return to the ring.

“No, no. If I know one thing about Punk: if he’s out on something, he’s out on it. You won’t see him being around it, you won’t see him looking at it, you won’t see him staring at it, it’s out of his life and the minute I saw him on the FOX set, I knew his eyes were turning back towards it,”

“I think he was just looking for the right place at the right time and he wanted to be happy with it and I think he is. From what I’ve seen, I would gather that he is, so I’m stoked for him and I’m and I’m happy to see him back.” [h/t: Fightful]
