WWE held the first day of the Draft during the recent edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The trades were made between the Red and the Blue brands, although many fans detected that there were no notable changes in the rosters. Key groups such as The Bloodline or some talents did not change their surroundings. While champions and some major superstars like Roman Reigns were not included in the picks.

This has led to somewhat of an uproar against the WWE, as fans labeled the event a boring one, to say the least. But what could have the WWE done differently? Well, the guys at the Busted Open Podcast surely have an interesting idea. Make the Draft go one-on-one against their rivals, AEW.

In the latest edition of the Busted Open Podcast, Matt Camp and Justin LaBar shared their thoughts on the WWE Draft. And they too talked about the event being a boring one. But rather than just providing criticisms, they did come up with an intriguing plan. And that was to convert the Draft into a PLE on a Thursday night against Dynamite. They said, “Why can’t it be a stand-alone event? Why can’t you pre-produce a standalone event? Put it on a Thursday Night. Put it up against Dynamite. Let’s really see what’s going on.”

They further added, “You could put everybody in the performance center. I said this yesterday, and have a panel. Give me Cole, give me E, give me Punk. Give me the numbers, give me stats, give me real war rooms, give me interviews with you know Jackie Redman getting them as soon as they get drafted. Let’s get comments right away… And by the way, you can control everything. There is no excuse for it to be boring.” This surely is an interesting idea to convert the Draft into a PLE. And with the WWE fan base being a loyal one, they sure can make the event go against and beat AEW Dynamite. But what was the reason behind the Draft being so bland in the first place?

The reason behind the lack of major trades in the Draft

As WWE held the Draft, despite some interesting surprises, such as the selection of Carmelo Hayes by SmackDown or the addition of Kiana James to the RAW roster, most of the selectable superstars have remained on the shows they were already on. According to Fightful, the main reason WWE barely implemented changes to the draft is because they wanted both brands to retain their top superstars. However, more significant changes are expected next Monday on RAW, as well as promotions coming from NXT.

For next Monday, there is a slew of major superstars who could be selected, including Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, and Gunther, among many others. While Ilja Dragunov is also expected to be one superstar to leave NXT. So what do you think? Will we get to see some major changes on RAW? Let us know in the comments.
