Tony Khan was in the news lately for calling out WWE and the company’s booking. Due to this, he ended up incurring the wrath of none other than the Modern-Day Maharaja, Jinder Mahal. Since then Mahal has been vocal about his thoughts, including his opinion on Jack Perry. While the dust has settled from his feud with Tony Khan, Mahal opened up about his views on CM Punk and how his return brought a storm of mixed “emotions” inside him.
Jinder Mahal on CM Punk’s return
Talking with WWE India, Mahal mentioned how he, as a fan of the sport sees the Second City Saint‘s return to WWE. He said, “I have mixed emotions [laughs]. The fan in me is excited, excited for CM Punk’s return.” The former champion further added that he is excited about the possible matches with him in the future and possibly sharing space with him in the ring. However, he is a bit doubtful about his return.

Mahal further added, “But I do see Seth’s (Rollins) point because I was there when CM Punk was in WWE the last time, and Seth (Rollins) also has a point.” Rollins has been pretty vocal about his feelings for the former AEW star. While he used to idolize him during his initial days, his point of view quickly changed later.

Following Punk’s return to WWE, Rollins commented on his relationship with him. The current World Heavyweight Champion went on to say that Punk is an example of “don’t meet your heroes because they’ll always disappoint you” for him.
While Mahal has mixed emotions for him, he further said that this might be a chance for Punk to redeem himself.

Jinder Mahal has high hopes for the Straight Edge Survivor
While Mahal stated that he was with WWE during CM Punk’s first run with the company, he believes that there is still hope for Punk. He said, “But nonetheless, let’s see what CM Punk does. Let’s see his attitude, let’s see his reaction.” Mahal also added that he wants to see whether Punk will contribute to the development of the younger talents on the roster.

He concluded by saying, “CM Punk is one of the all-time greats, and I’m curious to see if he still has it. So let’s find out.” While Mahal has put a lot of responsibility on Punk’s shoulders, even fans are expecting a lot from him this time around.
