Last January, after the Royal Rumble event, an image made its way into the corners of the internet in which Ricky Starks, current AEW wrestler, could be seen accompanying Cody Rhodes backstage. Something that caught the attention of the fans. During an interview, The American Nightmare revealed that Ricky Starks was only there to support him. And that relationships with workers from other companies need to be normalized.
During the same interview, Rhodes confirmed that besides Ricky Starks, other friends of his also attended the event. But they stayed away from the cameras. And the same repeated on WrestleMania XL. Where Ricky Starks could be seen cheering for Rhodes as he won the Universal Championship. However, in an interview, Starks has elucidated on that moment. He revealed that he wasn’t cheering only for Rhodes. But also because of a WWE legend.

‘Absolute’ Ricky Starks appeared for an interview with WhatCulture wrestling where he talked about all things WWE and AEW. And it was during this interview that they talked about the viral video where Ricky Starks could be seen celebrating Rhodes’ win at WrestleMania. But according to Starks, it wasn’t Rhodes that he was cheering for. Instead, it was The Undertaker who excited him. “Dude, I was, I made a joke to Cody. I was like, that video, they caught the video of me acting like that after I just saw Taker come out, dude. It wasn’t cause you were winning.”

However, we all saw the clip. He was most likely cheering for Rhodes. But maybe he just doesn’t want the fans to believe so. After all, he is still a part of AEW. And an AEW talent could land in troubled waters for cheering for the top star of its rival promotion. But what if he joins the WWE soon? Because The American Nightmare surely wants ‘Absolute’ to join the WWE roster.
The American Nightmare wants Starks to jump ships
In recent years, the arrival of AEW wrestlers in WWE has become very common. From renowned athletes such as Cody Rhodes or Jade Cargill to some who are gaining recognition such as Brian Pillman Jr. (Lexis King in NXT). However, for The American Nightmare, there’s still room for someone else.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this year, Cody Rhodes revealed that he would like to see Ricky Starks in WWE in the future. The former AEW star did acknowledge that his friend has a contract. But it would be nice to see him in the WWE. “My friend Ricky Starks. I know he’s under contract, so that won’t happen. But it would be great to see him.”
While Ricky Starks is good friends with Cody Rhodes. And that would help a possible WWE arrival. However, Starks is still under contract with AEW.
